God Did What We Couldn’t Do!

Passage: Romans 8:3

Speaker: Steven Cooper

Series: New Life in the New Year

Category: Sermon

Message Summary:
God’s promises are based on what God has done for us in salvation. In Christ, God has done what we couldn’t do: he condemned sin in the flesh, and this sets us free when we believe in Him. Forgiveness and freedom are promises of God that are grounded in a relationship with Him. When we come to Him with our sin, He welcomes us. He turns our sins into a celebration of His forgiveness, and He feeds us because we are family.

Discussion Questions:

  1. How can we be sure that God forgives us when we confess our sins?
  2. Practically what stands in the way of feeling forgiven when you confess your sins to God?
  3. What does it mean that God “condemned sin in the flesh”(Romans 8:3)?

VERSES:

Romans 8:1-3

1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh.
