Certainty in Life’s Chaos

Passage: Romans 8:1

Speaker: Steven Cooper

Series: New Life in the New Year

Category: Sermon

Message Summary:

The only thing we know about 2021 is that we can’t predict what will happen in 2021. But in the chaos of unpredictability, God’s promises are the foundation and the bricks that make up a life of peace and confidence. Romans 8 is arguably the greatest chapter in the greatest book of the entire Bible. It begins with the life-changing declaration that because of Jesus a new world is beginning. In this new world, condemnation doesn’t exist for the followers of Jesus.

Discussion Questions:

  1. How do God’s promises stabilize us and give us confidence in the midst of uncertainty in our lives?
  2. If God doesn’t condemn us, then how does God feel about us?
  3. If God who loves you, likes you, and is for you… how would this God treat you when you are praying? When you are reading the Bible?
  4. If spending time with God was similar to sitting across the table from Jesus, how would Jesus treat you during the time you have together?

Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 3:23-24  23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
