Jesus and the Samaritan Woman - On Being a Disciple (John 4:1-32)

In this message Pastor Omar draws distinctions from Jesus' interaction with Nicodemus (below) and now the interaction with the Samaritan Woman, their contrasts:

  • Their status level in society

  • When interactions occurred (night versus day)

  • When faith is evident (entire chapter of John versus the beginning)

And their similarities:

  • Both Nicodemus and this woman (the longest one recorded in the Gospel of John) have a profound conversation with Jesus

Omar will take you through two aspects of the story: 1) who was she, and 2) who does she become.

Jesus and Nicodemus - On Being Born Again (John 3:1-18)

In this message Pastor Omar focuses on the interaction between Jesus and Nicodemus in John and the status we receive when we're born again. While that phrase can be contentious in terms of elevated status and division that can drive people away from Jesus, he uses it to illustrate to Nicodemus status means nothing when it comes to explaining what this new birth is and how to get it, versus something earned or achieved.
